NATCHITOCHES – Rick Cabrera's second full Northwestern State men's basketball signing class starts in the backcourt.

Cabrera announced the signing of Jonesboro (Arkansas) High School point guard CJ Larry on Friday, tipping off his recruiting efforts for the 2025-26 season.

Larry is a two-time all-conference performer at Jonesboro who also earned all-state honors as a junior. As a sophomore, Larry was a key member of Jonesboro's third straight state championship team, one that finished with a 30-3 record.

That season, Larry posted a 3-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio while shooting 40 percent from 3-point range and the team was undefeated after he moved into the starting lineup midway through the season.

As a junior, Larry clinched Jonesboro's state tournament berth with a game-winning layup against Conway with 1 second remaining.

Academically, Larry has a 3.8 grade point average and is a member of the National Honor Society.

"CJ comes here as a point guard with size – strong, athletic, real shifty in transition," Cabrera said. "He comes from a very well-coached and successful high school program. I have followed the young man since he was probably in ninth grade when I lived in Jonesboro, Arkansas. I always saw something in him. He's a 6-3 point guard, strong, can shoot the ball with his feet set. He's a very unselfish young man and has a chance to be a really, really good Southland player."
