NATCHITOCHES -- Northwestern State women's basketball's
Monette Bolden and
Candice Parramore each received honorable mention nods to the Louisiana Sports Writer's Association's All-Louisiana team on Wednesday.
The Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year, Parramore led the Lady Demons in scoring and finished in the top five the conference in average and points this season. She had one of the best free throw shooting seasons in program history converting on 90 percent (140-of-157) of her shots from the stripe, the fifth best percentage all time and the highest by a player with more than 100 attempts. She made 34 consecutive free throws at one point over a 10 game stretch.
Parramore put in an average of 13.8 points per game and led the team in scoring in 16 of the 26 total games and reached the 20-point mark seven different times on the year.
She earned a second-team all-conference spot in her first season NSU and was named conference player of the week two times.
Bolden was the team leader in assists at 3.1 per game and finished second in both scoring (11.8) and rebounds (5.7).
She reached double-digits a team-best 19 times and on four different occasions scored 10 or more points with five or more rebounds and five or more assists, two coming in conference play. She was named a third-team all-conference player and earned Southland Player of the Week honors once.
