NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State guards LaTerrance Reed and Jovan Zelenbaba were selected to the Southland Conference All-Academic Second Team, the league announced Thursday.

Reed paired his seven points and two rebounds per game with his 3.05 GPA, which included graduating with a degree in business administration.

Zelenbaba flashed a 3.4 GPA in computer information systems to go with his five points and two rebounds per game.

Reed, a departing senior, had his strongest stretch of the season at the finish. He contributed four double-digit games in his last nine contests, which included 21 points in a win at Houston Baptist in which he made four of NSU's program record-tying 17 3-pointers.

Reed was third on the team with 30 pointers, shooting at a 32 percent clip from deep.

Zelenbaba scored a season-high 13 points in a win against Incarnate Word. The sophomore was known to make critical 3-pointers, particularly in conference play as he finished with 24.

NSU is one of just three SLC teams with multiple selections, which are chosen by the league's head coaches, sports information directors and academic coordinators.

It's the ninth time in 10 seasons that the Demons have placed at least one player on the all-academic teams.
