NATCHITOCHES – The accolades for the Northwestern State men's basketball team continue to roll in.
One day after earning Lou Henson Player of the Week and Southland Conference Player of the Week awards,
DeMarcus Sharp's busy week continued Tuesday morning.
Sharp was named Mid-Major Madness' national Player of the Week for his performances in the Demons' wins at Stephen F. Austin and at Southern Miss after averaging 33 points and six assists in those games.
Sharp capped the Demons' first back-to-back, 30-point games by an individual since 2015 with a buzzer-beating, step-back jumper that handed Southern Miss its first loss this season.
Sharp wasn't alone in garnering attention for the Demons' six-game win streak.
First-year Northwestern State coach
Corey Gipson was named the Small Conference Coach of the Week by Major Madness after the Demons' two wins helped NSU equal its best nine-game start to a season since entering NCAA Division I in the 1976-77 season.
Because of their surge, the Demons entered the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 at No. 23 this week.
