NATCHITOCHES—When the team has its best weekend of season, you reap the rewards.

That is exactly what happened with the NSU women's soccer team, as it swept the Southland Conference weekly awards, the conference announced Tuesday.

Midfielder Gracie Armstrong took home the offensive player of the week, while Nicole Henry and Chloe DeShazer anchored the defense and took home the defensive and goalkeeper of the week, respectively.

Armstrong, a graduate student from Broomfield, Colo., scored two goals each in wins at Lamar and at home against Nicholls. In the victory at Lamar, she recorded both tallies in the 2-0 triumph over the previously undefeated Cardinals.

She backed that up by finding the back of the net two more times in the 5-0 win over Nicholls, scoring the first two, including a goal in the second minute to start the Lady Demons off on the right foot.

Henry and DeShazer both led a defense that posted two shutouts. Henry, the three-time reigning SLC Defender of the Year, and the back line surrendered just five shots, only two of which were on frame.

In addition to being a defensive stalwart, she added an assist in the victory over Nicholls.

DeShazer, a senior from Kansas City, was equal to the task when called upon to earn her second SLC Goalkeeper of the Week award of the season, also winning one after a victory over Grambling.

She is second in the conference with a .692 goals against average and a .769 save percentage, recording five total shutouts on the season.

NSU is back in action Sunday with a home date with Texas A&M-Commerce at 1 p.m.
