NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State receiver
Gavin Landry has already been recognized on the national stage this season as a finalist for the Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award.
He'll get another chance at a national spotlight by being a candidate for the CoSIDA Academic All-American squad.
Landry was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 squad to one of the two receivers spots.
District 6 covers 11 different states from Louisiana to Minnesota and out west to Wyoming.
The senior was one of 26 honorees on the District 6 team.
The White Castle native accumulated 227 yards on 17 catches with two total touchdowns, highlighted by a career day at UIW in the season finale (nine catches for 131 yards).
Landry caught a 13-yard touchdown against Nicholls.
He threw a touchdown pass at Southeastern on a trick play.
Perhaps more impressively, Landry graduated with a business degree at a 3.93 GPA.
His service-first philosophy embodies itself as a four-year member on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and on the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership Team.
Landry climbed the depth chart throughout his NSU career, cracking the starting lineup in 2019 before tearing his ACL on a touchdown catch.
He battled back from that injury to regain his starting spot this spring.
Landry will have one more season of eligibility this fall.
