Shemar Bartholomew kept a personal streak alive with an interception in Northwestern State's 31-28 win at Sam Houston State on Saturday.
He kept a team streak going Monday when Bartholomew shared Louisiana Sports Writers Association Defensive Player of the Week honors.
A 6-foot, 185-pound sophomore cornerback, Bartholomew earned his first career honor after notching four tackles, a pair of pass breakups and a momentum-shifting, 96-yard interception return for a touchdown as the Demons knocked the Bearkats from the Southland Conference championship race. He shared the award with Nicholls defensive lineman Sully Laiche. The weekly award is voted on by a panel of statewide media.
Bartholomew's award was the second of the day for the Demons as quarterback
Shelton Eppler was named Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday morning. Following each of the Demons' three wins this season, Northwestern State players have won multiple weekly awards.
