As a result of the rain accumulated so far today, with more throughout the day predicted as well, Northwestern State University has canceled tomorrow's NSU Pre-State High School Meet featuring several cross country teams from around the state. Over an inch of rain has already fallen, with another 1-2 inches expected throughout the evening and into tomorrow morning.

The meet serves as a preview of sorts for the LHSAA State Championship Meet, which will be held November 18-19 at NSU. The decision to cancel the meet was out of concern for the safety and health of athletes as well as the need to preserve the integrity of the course for the State Meet. There were expected to be over 500 runners for tomorrow's event, and it is necessary to take precautions and preserve the course, which is in excellent condition, for major events like the State Meet.

NSU head track and field coach Mike Heimerman stated that all teams will receive a full refund for any fees.
