BEAUMONT, Texas  -- Northwestern State couldn't survive 15 free passes Sunday as Lamar pulled out a 3-2 win in eight innings to complete the series sweep.
 
Lamar sophomore Kelly Meeuwsen hit a walk-off single with the bases loaded and two outs in the eighth inning to secure the win.
 
NSU (9-16-1, 0-3 Southland Conference) walked 12 Cardinals and hit three more, including walking two and hitting one in the eighth inning to load the bases for Meeuwsen.
 
Sophomore Mikayla Brown (4-7) received the loss in relief, pitching 1 2-3 innings and giving up the game-winning hit.
 
While her predecessors successfully limited runs, the free passes flowed freely.
 
Sophomore starter Katelyn Boles walked six in 3 1-3 innings and allowed two runs. She wiggled out of two runners in scoring position in the third inning, but Lamar struck for two fourth-inning runs to snatch a 2-1 lead.
 
After Boles walked one and allowed a Meeuwsen single (2-for-3), Lamar loaded the bases on a Sable Hankins walk.
 
Corina Thornton delivered an RBI single and Samanatha Cetta drew an RBI walk to chase Boles.
 
Junior Micaela Bouvier dodged the trouble by recording two outs with the bases loaded, and Bouvier finished with 2 2-3 scoreless innings.
 
Lamar stranded 15 runners in the win.
 
Senior pitcher Ciara Luna (2-7) scattered six hits in eight innings with two runs allowed.
 
The first came on a Kellye Kincannon solo home run in the first inning. Kincannon has five home runs this season and 47 for her career, five shy of tying former teammate Cassandra Barefield's mark.
 
Kincannon has already captured two of Barefield's career records. The Lake Jackson, Texas, native owns NSU's total bases and RBI stats, the latter being broke Friday on an RBI double.
 
Trailing 2-1, junior Hailee Rhodes delivered a two-out RBI single in the sixth inning. Senior Brittney Jones singled with one out and moved to second base on a Jordan Rains ground out.
 
The Lady Demons lost a pair Friday 5-1 and 5-4. It's the first Lamar sweep of NSU in program history, and the Cardinals second straight series win.
 
NSU has dropped seven straight contests, five by two runs or less.

The Lady Demons return home Wednesday to host Louisiana Tech at 6 p.m.  before its SLC home opening series against another top conference team in Abilene Christian.
