PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The Second Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic wrapped up Saturday with the Northwestern State track and field teams claiming multiple individual medal positions at the Robert W. Plaster Center.

On the women's side,
Daeshon Gordon returned from the Tyson Invitational to pick up her third win of the season in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.26.

Two others claiming victory were
De'Shalyn Jones and
Jasmyn Steels. Jones had an outstanding weekend individually, as she set two school records and three personal bests. Her time of 54.29 placed her atop the podium in the 400-meter dash, while Steels, a freshman from College Station, TX, won her first triple jump of the indoor season with a leap of 39-09.75.

Also placing for the Lady Demons were
Jessica Coleman and
Jermeka McBride. Coleman took third in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.24, which was a career best since she joined NSU from Garden City Community College. McBride stepped on the podium for the first time this season in the women's 60-meter dash with her time of 7.55.

For the men, it was familiar faces finishing one-two in the 60-meter dash, as
Micah Larkins took gold with a time of 6.76, and
Amir James won silver after clocking a 6.80.
Joining them as a medal winner was junior distance runner
Joshua Wilkins. Wilkins picks up his third top-three finish in the one-mile with his best performance yet, running a 4:17.17.

The next time NSU's track and field teams compete, it will be for a Southland Conference Championship on Feb. 22-23 in Birmingham, AL.
