NATCHITOCHES – Alexis Guess has been hired as Northwestern State's assistant academic coordinator, announced NSU director of athletics Greg Burke on Thursday.

Guess' hire is subject to the approval of the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors, which oversees NSU.

As an undergraduate at LSU, Guess spent two years as a content tutor in the Cox Communications Center for Student-Athletes where she tutored student-athletes, composed tutor reports, met with athletic advisors and attended NCAA, SEC and LSU compliance and tutor training sessions. She also completed ethics training for public servants.

As an intern at the Baton Rouge Community College athletic department, Guess oversaw the men's basketball study table, verified student-athlete eligibility and observed student-athlete advising.

Guess has been involved with the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League Summit on Sportsmanship and has taken part in the NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar.
