NATCHITOCHES – Four scores from four different players, including Zuri Prince who finished with three points, gave Stephen F. Austin a 4-0 win over the Northwestern State soccer team Sunday afternoon in Southland Conference action at the Lady Demon Soccer Complex.
Prince (3 goals) opened the game for SFA (5-2-1, 1-0 SLC) with an unassisted goal from 40 yards out. She booted the ball just under the crossbar. Northwestern State fell to 3-7 overall and 0-2 in league play.
Amanda Doyle and Prince each assisted Chelsea Raymond (4), who made it 2-0 in the 25
th minute. Prince's pass to Doyle drew out NSU goalkeeper
Alex Latham, and Doyle chipped it to Raymond. Hanna Barker (5) made it 3-0 in the 67
th minute when she grabbed the ball in traffic, made a side step and put it over the head of Latham.
Meghan Corder (1) scored the final goal with a little over a minute to play on an unassisted goal from the top of the box.
Northwestern State was outshot 20-6 on the day. SFA had 10 shots on-goal and the Lady Demons had five.
Latham played the entire match in goal, and collected four saves in the 20 shots faced. SFA goalkeeper Morgan Glick played 90 minutes in goal and had five saves.
Nikki Saunders led NSU in attempts with three, and
Cassandra Briscoe,
Brooke Eastburg and Cache Haley all added one each. Barker was tops in attempts for the Ladyjacks. Raymond followed with three shots, and Ashton Norman, Corder and Jasmine White all had two apiece.
Northwestern State will return to the pitch on Friday when it hosts Houston Baptist at 7 o'clock on Friday before opening a five game road swing on Sept. 28.
