SAN MARCOS, Texas –
Julia Ranalli, who scored her second goal of the season Friday against LSU, will lead the Northwestern State soccer team against Texas State on Sunday at 1 o'clock to conclude a two-game road swing.
Ranalli leads NSU (1-2) with seven points, and is one shy of last year's leader,
Brooke Eastburg who had eight. She and
Yanci Johnson each scored goals in a 6-2 loss to the Tigers Friday night.
Esdenia Gonzalez has four points and
Peyton Rector has three this season.
Texas State is 2-0-1 with wins over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and New Mexico State. They tied Texas-El Paso in the season opener.
Tori Hale and Kassi Hormuth are tied for the Bobcat lead with four points apiece. Jourdan Brown has one point on the season.
The two programs have battled 23 times, most dating back to the days where both were rivals in the Southland Conference. Texas State leads 12-8-3.
The Bobcats defeated league member TAMUCC, 2-0, on Friday with goals scored by Hormuth and Hale.
LSU used two early goals to grab a 2-0 lead over Northwestern State before the sixth minute and protected it from there.
The Lady Demons will return to the Demon Soccer Complex in their next match on Sept. 5 against Arkansas-Little Rock at 7 o'clock. NSU opens another two-game road swing after with contests at Baylor and Prairie View A&M.
