THIBADEAUX – After notching the game-winning double and tying the single-game RBI record (7), Kellye Kincannon and the Northwestern State softball team head to Nicholls State for a three-game Southland Conference series beginning on Saturday at one o'clock at the Colonel Softball Complex.

Games one and three for the Lady Demons (21-19 overall, 10-9 SLC) will be broadcast live on 100.7 KZBL in Natchitoches, and the second contest of Saturday's twinbill will be available on nsudemons.com.

Kincannon's seven RBI in the 8-7 win over Louisiana Tech on Wednesday tied with single-game leader, and 2004 graduate, Kiana Scott's 2003 mark versus Texas-San Antonio when Northwestern State crushed the Roadrunners 16-4.

The Lady Demons took the series from league newcomer Incarnate Word last weekend, 2-1, and have won seven of their last 10 contests heading into Saturday. The Colonels (17-30, 7-12) lead the all-time series 63-46-1, but fell 2-1 in last season's meeting.

Senior leadoff Tara McKenney holds steady on top of the NSU offense with a .370 average and a team-high 51 hits. Brittany Virgoe sits second at .359 with 47 hits, including six homers, and 24 RBI. Cassandra Barefield and Kincannon tie for the lead in RBI with 30 each.

Kaylee Guidry (9-3) registers a 2.90 ERA to lead from the circle, throwing 72.1 innings and allowing 63 hits and just 33 runs, 30 of them earned. The Walker native claimed both wins over the Cardinals, giving up just four hits and two runs on the weekend. Freshman Skylar Cagle (5-4) ranks next with a 3.78 ERA after 50 complete innings on the rubber.

Dropping its fourth Southland series last weekend to McNeese, Nicholls is led by Taylor Terrio, who boasts a .397 average and a team-high 58 hits, including six doubles, one triple and a homer, and 16 RBI. Brittany Marcet ranks second at .296 and 40 hits that include a high of 10 doubles and 29 RBI.

Jackie Johnson (9-15) has seen the most time in the circle, throwing 137.1 innings, allowing 123 hits and 70 runs, 58 of them earned, while striking out 112. Hannah Haydel (5-12) registers a 4.01 ERA after hauling 108.1 innings and giving up 136 hits and 89 runs, 62 of them earned.

Northwestern State wraps up the regular-season with a three-game series versus Southeastern Louisiana starting on May 3 at two o'clock at the Lady Demon Diamond. NSU will honor its six seniors before Sunday's finale for their hard work and dedication to the program.
