COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Taking a break in its Southland Conference schedule, the Northwestern State softball team heads to No. 13 Texas A&M Tuesday evening for a six o'clock meeting at the Aggie Softball Complex.
The Lady Demons (12-11 overall, 4-2 SLC) head to College Station for the 18
th contest between the two programs, trailing the Aggies (21-7 overall, 3-3 Southeastern Conference) 17-0 in the all-time series.
The two teams last met in 2005 at the Texas A&M Tournament when NSU dropped a 9-3 decision.
Northwestern State enters Tuesday carrying two straight wins over Texas A&M – Corpus Christi while the Aggies fell to South Carolina two games to one in the SEC series over the weekend.

Cassandra Barefield leads the Lady Demons from the plate, hitting .354 on the season, including eight homers and 21 RBI, followed by senior
Tara McKenney with a .329 average after 25 hits in 76 at-bats.
From the circle, senior
Kaylee Guidry (5-2) picked up both wins over the Islanders, giving up just 10 hits and three runs, two of them earned. The Walker native holds a 3.19 ERA allowing 17 earned runs and 33 hits in 37.1 innings, while striking out 21.
Emily Albus and Nicole Morgan steer the Aggie offense with .417 and .413 averages, respectively. Albus has cranked out a team-high 40 hits, including four doubles, and 14 RBI. Morgan registers 10 homers and four doubles in 31 hits.
Katie Marks posts a perfect 11-0 record from the rubber, holding opponents to a 1.61 ERA, 60 hits, 17 runs, 16 of them earned, and has struck out 39 batters.
The Lady Demons remain on the road for a three-game series at league rival Stephen F. Austin beginning on Saturday at one o'clock. The next contest at the Lady Demon Diamond will be March 29 at 2:00 for a Southland series with McNeese State.
