NORMAN, Okla. – Now that the Northwestern State basketball team has gotten a couple of wins under its belt, the Demons head into a pair of road games against Big XII Conference foes beginning with what appears to be NSU's toughest test of the season, a 2 p.m. Sunday visit to 18th-ranked Oklahoma.

The Demons (2-1) scored the game's last 10 points Thursday night at LSU Alexandria for an 89-79 road win over a first-year NAIA program. The Sooners (1-1) fell 65-63 Wednesday at Creighton after opening with a 78-53 home win over NSU's fellow Southland Conference team, Southeastern Louisiana.

NSU nearly upset the Sooners almost exactly two years ago, falling 69-65 on Nov. 30, 2012, when then-freshman guard Jalan West's 3-pointer to tie popped in and out with seven seconds remaining. The Demons couldn't hold a six-point lead with five minutes to play.

West, now a junior, and senior center Marvin Frazier are the only two current-day NSU players who took part in that game. West is 24 points away from 1,000 in his career, averaging 16.7 points, 7.3 assists and 3.3 steals on the heels of a 22-point performance at LSUA. He has made 24 of his last 26 free throws, 13 of 14 at LSUA.

Frazier has made a solid start to his senior season,  with an 11.7 scoring average along with 5.3 rebounds. He is fourth in school history with 116 career blocks.

Sophomore Zeek Woodley, who scored 27 including six in NSU's closing 10-0 run at LSUA, paces the Demons' offense with a 19.0 scoring average and 56 percent shooting aim.

Sophomore Tra'von Joseph is the Demons' top rebounder at 7.0 per game, with an 8.0 scoring average.

The Sooners have a dynamic guard in Buddy Hield, averaging 23 points, 7 rebounds and shooting 71 percent on 3-pointers. 6-8 junior forward Ryan Spangler averages 11 points and rebounds so far.

The game will be broadcast on the Demon Sports Network, flagshipped by 100.7 KZBL FM in Natchitoches and including SportsTalk 100.7 FM and SuperTalk 1340 AM KRMD in Shreveport, and KWLA 103.1 FM in Many/Leesville. Free audio is available at NSUDemons.com and SuperTalk1340.com.

There's also regional television with coverage on Fox Sports Oklahoma and Fox College Sports.

The Demons play Tuesday night at Texas Tech.
