NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State basketball team begins the 50
th year of playing in Prather Coliseum aiming for the 400
th win in the venerable venue's history Monday night at 6:30 against Lyon College.
The Demons hope to even their record at 1-1 after a 109-68 loss Friday night at Texas A&M. The Scots, who defeated Grambling last season, are an NAIA program based in Batesville, Ark., and will be playing the second of three exhibition games, with the last one coming Tuesday night at Grambling.
Lyon's lineup includes two outstanding 3-point shooters. Junior guard Riley Jenkins led the NAIA with 52.9 percent aim (81-153) behind the arc in 2013-14 while senior guard Devonte Young was fifth nationally at 47.1 percent (56-119). The Scots were 16-15 a year ago under second-year coach Chad Tapp.
The Demons are 20-4 in Prather Coliseum over the past two seasons, 46-10 in the last four years and have won 71 percent at home (142-57) under 16

All-time, NSU is 399-214 (.651) in Prather since the 1964-65 season when David Clark hit a layup to score the first points in the building. Clark, a Campti native, went on to become one of the greatest players in school history, fifth in scoring (1,583 points) and fourth in career free throw percentage (.838, 382-456) from 1963-67 while earning three All-Gulf States Conference honors.
This year's Demons are led by a player who is ahead of Clark on the career free throw list. Junior point guard

West had 10 points and six assists at Texas A&M. Sophomore guard
Zeek Woodley had 13 points and five rebounds, while senior center
Marvin Frazier contributed 11 points, five rebounds and two blocked shots.
Frazier will move into sole possession of fourth on NSU's career blocks list with his next rejection. He is tied with Jethro Owens (1989-93) at 111.
The game is the lone homecourt outing for the Demons until Nov. 29. Thursday, they play at LSU-Alexandria, a first-year NAIA program, and go to Oklahoma Sunday and Texas Tech next Tuesday.
