NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State alumnus Lyn Rollins, one of Louisiana's acclaimed sports broadcasters, heads the announcing crew Saturday afternoon for Southland TV coverage of the Demons' 3 p.m. Southland Conference football showdown at Turpin Stadium against No. 24 Sam Houston State.
 
The game shapes up as quite a battle, according to some national analysts. The highly-regarded Gridiron Power Index, a top indicator of at-large FCS playoff selection provided by College Sporting News, has NSU ranked 23^rd nationally and Sam Houston at No. 24. The GPI combines 10 different FCS polls and ranking systems to produce its rankings.
 
The Bearkats are ranked 24^th in the Sports Network's weekly media poll, but Sports Network analyst Craig Haley picks the Demons to win Saturday, noting they rank No. 2 nationally with 19 turnovers forced by the Purple Swarm defense.
