NSU's Lyn Rollins heads announcing lineup for Southland TV coverage Saturday

10/17/2014 1:20:00 PM

NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State alumnus Lyn Rollins, one of Louisiana's acclaimed sports broadcasters, heads the announcing crew Saturday afternoon for Southland TV coverage of the Demons' 3 p.m. Southland Conference football showdown at Turpin Stadium against No. 24 Sam Houston State.

The game shapes up as quite a battle, according to some national analysts. The highly-regarded Gridiron Power Index, a top indicator of at-large FCS playoff selection provided by College Sporting News, has NSU ranked 23rd nationally and Sam Houston at No. 24. The GPI combines 10 different FCS polls and ranking systems to produce its rankings.

The Bearkats are ranked 24th in the Sports Network's weekly media poll, but Sports Network analyst Craig Haley picks the Demons to win Saturday, noting they rank No. 2 nationally with 19 turnovers forced by the Purple Swarm defense.
