NATCHITOCHES – All-American defensive end John Kulakowski, who was part of the Gulf Star Conference champion 1984 Northwestern State football  team, will be recognized as the Exchange Bank Demon Great of the Game Saturday evening as Northwestern State returns to Turpin Stadium with a 6 o'clock homecoming game against Southland Conference newcomer Incarnate Word.
 
Kulakowski will be recognized during a timeout in the first quarter of Thursday's game. He and teammates from the 1984 championship squad, and members of the 2004 Southland Conference champion Demons, will be involved in the launch of a new tradition for Demon home games – the Normal Line.
 
The Normal Line will honor the 1939 Demons, who had a perfect 11-0 season 75 years ago. For each home game , various teams and groups will be invited to form The Normal Line to flank the current NSU football team's entry to the field less than four minutes before kickoff.
 
Kulakowski was included in the "Top 100 Demon Football Players of All-Time" chosen in 2007 as NSU celebrated its football centennial. He was a 1987 All-America defensive end and the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year after including a then-school record 15 sacks among his 96 tackles. A four-year starter, he was a 1995 Graduate N Club Hall of Fame inductee.

Pro Football Hall of Fame member Jackie Smith, who helped the 1962 Demons win the Gulf States Conference championship, and College Football Hall of Fame inductee Gary Reasons, a three-time All-America linebacker from 1981-83, were the first two Exchange Bank Demon Greats of the Game this season. They were recognized at NSU's first home game Aug. 28.
 
The Demon Great of the Game, presented by Exchange Bank and Trust of Natchitoches, spotlights some of the most outstanding performers in the 107-year history of NSU football. Exchange Bank has been a key supporter of NSU Athletics throughout its long history as the oldest financial institution in Natchitoches.
