JACKSON, Miss. – The Northwestern State women's soccer team will travel to Jackson State to play in the fourth match of a five-game road stint on Friday at 4 o'clock in the JSU Soccer Field.
The Lady Demons (0-4-0) will be without senior forward
Yanci Johnson who scored the season's first goal in a 3-1 loss to Texas State in the first match of the year. She will be out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.
Since then, the NSU has matched up against Top 10 ranked Baylor and Ole Miss, who is now receiving votes in the national rankings. It lost 5-0 in both of those matches as well as to Louisiana-Lafayette who the Lady Demons played most recently.
The Tigers (0-4-1) are coming off of two 5-0 losses in the Troy Invitational to host school and South Alabama. They also suffered losses to Southland Conference rivals Southeastern Louisiana and McNeese State.
Shatiaunna Banks scored the lone goal of the year for Jackson State on an assist from Alyssa Almogela in the game at SLU.
NSU holds a 3-0-0 all-time series over the Tigers with wins in each year from 2009-11.
Northwestern State will take the field next at state rival Louisiana-Monroe at 1 o'clock on Sunday. The Lady Demons will return home on Sept. 15 to face Prairie View A&M.
