HOUSTON – Fresh off of a double-overtime tie on a short week, the Northwestern State women's soccer team will faceoff with league newcomer Houston Baptist on Friday at 7 o'clock in Southland Conference action.
NSU (2-6-1, 0-1-1 Southland Conference) played Lamar on Tuesday, after a rainout forced the original game time to be rescheduled, and played to a 0-0 draw. The Lady Demons faced a tough opening weekend in league play facing the reigning champion in Stephen F. Austin and the Cardinals, who played in the conference championship tournament a season ago.
Houston Baptist (1-6-1, 0-1-0 Southland Conference) comes into the game after a 1-0 league loss to Abilene Christian, who is one of two teams undefeated teams in the Southland Conference.
Though HBU is a newcomer to the Southland Conference, the Huskies and Lady Demons are familiar with each other having two contests in as many years. Houston Baptist leads the all-time series 2-0.
The Huskies have two players with goals on the 2013 season. Rebekah Tovar leads the team in points with two goals followed by Natalie Hager with one.
Freshmen
Brooke Eastburg and
Johanna Sigvardsson each lead Northwestern State with four points. Eastburg has two goals and Sigvardsson has one goal with two assists.
The Lady Demons return home on Sunday when they open a five-game homestand with Central Arkansas at 1 o'clock.
