FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Northwestern State's
Natalya Krutova posted a singles win over Arkansas' Kristin Mee and narrowly missed a doubles victory teamed with
Daniela Simonova Sunday on the final day of the Razorback Classic women's tennis tournament.
After Krutova rolled to a 6-0 first-set win, Mee retired. In doubles play, Krutova/Simonova fell 8-7 (5) to Flavia Araujo of Arkansas and Carol Benito of Tulsa, after losing an 8-6 decision to them a day earlier.
NSU's No. 1 player,
Polina Konop, again suffered a close three-set defeat for the second time in as many days. Sunday she fell 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 to Carolina Wegner of Memphis.
Konop and
Tatiana Larina were beaten 8-4 by Alyssa Hibbert and Wegner of Memphis. Hibberd had edged Konop in a three-set singles battle Saturday.
Larina retired after dropping the first set of her singles match Sunday 6-1 to Maria Sant'Anna of Tulsa. Sinomova fell 6-2, 6-1 to Marta Morga of Memphis.
The Lady Demons come home to host their own tournament beginning Friday at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.
