HAMMOND -- After scoring two goals Friday night to beat Nicholls 3-0, Ashlee Savona will lead the Northwestern State women's soccer team in a match up at second-place Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday at 1 o'clock in Southland Conference play.

Savona hit two first half goals to give Northwestern State (6-8-1, 4-3-1 Southland Conference) a 2-0 lead that spurred them to a win that helped them jump from sixth to fifth in the league standings.

SLU is in second place with an 11-3-1 overall record and is 6-2 in league play.

Savona is the leader in points for Northwestern State with eight on four goals and 24 shots.  Brooke Eastburg, who scored the third goal against Nicholls, has six points on the season with three goals.

Kelsey Salcido leads Southeastern Louisiana with 21 points on seven goals and seven assists. Casey Peacock also has seven goals for the Lions.

Stephen F. Austin sits atop the standings with 21 points, followed by SLU who has 18.   Abilene Christian has 18 points, but is not eligible for the conference tournament.  Oral Roberts is in fourth place with 15 points, and NSU follows with 13 points.  Sam Houston, Houston Baptist, and Nicholls are all tied for sixth with 12 points.

Every win a team earns is three points, and a tie is one point.

The Lady Demons still have to face Oral Roberts (Oct. 27), Incarnate Word (Nov. 1), and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Nov. 3). All of those games will be on the road for Northwestern State.
