Box Score NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State Lady Demon soccer team fell 3-1 to Houston Baptist as Huskies forward Natalie Hager notched two goals Friday night.
NSU's lone goal came from junior forward
Ashlee Savona as she found the back of the net on a free kick from 25 yards out. A foul by HBU gave the Lady Demons the opportunity just 25 minutes into play.
Senior
Theresa Halle acted as if she tapped the ball as Savona ran right behind her, and followed through with the shot. The Lady Demons held the lead 1-0 at the half.
HBU's Rebecca Tovar scored first for the Huskies less than five minutes into the second half, as she received a long ball from Lindsey Matlock. Tovar outran the defenders and shot low to put HBU on the board.
Hager scored the game winner and an extra goal as she dribbled up the middle and shot low to score both.
Lady Demon defenders
Danielle Harding and
Jackie Strug were leaders among the NSU defense as they won countless tackles.
Freshman goalkeeper
Brooke Bourbonais made 10 saves in net, including a huge block off a corner kick mid-way through the second half.
NSU will host LSU-Shreveport on Monday at 7 o'clock at the Lady Demon soccer complex.
