NATCHITOCHES – Head coach
George Van Linder and the Lady Demon soccer team return home Friday night for another non-conference duel against Houston Baptist.
Kick-off is slated for 7 o'clock at the Lady Demon Soccer Complex.
NSU (1-3) lost to Tulsa 5-1 on Sunday. Junior forward
Yanci Johnson scored the lone goal for the Lady Demons from 35 yards out at the 75-minute mark.
“I think when the team comes out on the short end once or twice you can either crumble or be fighters, and we're excited about the fight that this team has,” said Van Linder. “We feel that we're going in the right direction, and the spirits are very high with the team.”
Johnson leads the team in goals scoring three of the team's five goals. Junior
Ashlee Savona and newcomer
Jackie Strug have the other scores.
The Huskies (2-3-1) fell to NSU Southland Conference rival Stephen F. Austin 2-0 Sunday.
HBU is led by sophomore forward Natalie Hager who has three goals on the season and Cindy Hedden who has two scores. Both wins for the Huskies were 1-0 victories over former Southland member Texas-San Antonio and California-Riverside.
The Lady Demons will be back at the Lady Demon Soccer Complex Monday when they take on the LSU-Shreveport Lady Pilots at 7 o'clock.
