NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State Lady Demon soccer team will host in-state rival Louisiana-Lafayette in non-conference action Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock.

NSU (5-4) enters the match with a four-game winning streak. ULL (5-5) fell to North Texas 2-0 on Friday.

The Lady Demons defeated Grambling 4-0 on Friday as four different goal scorers led NSU to another road victory.

“Louisiana-Lafayette is always a rivalry and an emotional game, so records and scouting reports are almost meaningless in this game,” said head coach George Van Linder.

Ashlee Savona earned her third goal of the season as she found the back of the net on a rebound save from GSU goalkeeper Nahomie Lagardere. Savona's goal would be the only tally of the first half.

Freshman Joanna McFarling scored her first collegiate goal at the 78-minute mark when she headed the ball in on another rebound save from Lagardere.

NSU defender Jackie Strug made her mark on the board as she scored on a free kick from 25 yards out to give the Lady Demons a 3-0 lead with 14 minutes remaining.

Less than one minute later, McFarling used her head again to knock down a cross just inside the box, sending the ball to Cassandra Briscoe. Briscoe shot high and sank her third goal of the season.

The Ragin' Cajuns are led by Shelby Isley who comes into Sunday's match with four goals and two assists on the season.

At the conclusion of the game, the Lady Demon soccer team will celebrate Youth Soccer Day in partner with the United States Youth Soccer Association.
