Box Score WACO, TX – The Northwestern State Lady Demon soccer team fell 5-0 to Baylor Sunday in non-conference action.
NSU allowed just one goal in the first half by the Bears, but the second half proved to be too much for the Lady Demons as Baylor would go on to score four times.
Katie Daigle scored first for the Bears off a cross from Jordan Hatler just 10 yards out.
Kat Ludlow found the back of the net next as she headed the ball off of a pass from the corner. The third goal, scored by Larissa Campos, would reach the upper corner and bank in off of the post.
Alex Klein scored off a through ball from 15 yards out, and Michelle Hagen scored the fifth goal by flicking the ball in from a cross by Jordan Hatler.
“I'm really proud of the effort we gave today, especially in the first half,” said first year head coach
George Van Linder. “We tried to turn the game around in the second half, but some mental mistakes prevented us from doing that. Despite the score, we had some great plays by five or six of our players in the second half.
“Although our record doesn't show it, the team has a really positive attitude and is headed in the right direction,” said Van Linder.
Freshman goalkeeper
Brooke Bourbonais made nine saves in net.
NSU will face Texas Southern in their home opener on Friday at 7 o'clock at the Lady Demon Soccer Complex.
