NATCHITOCHES -- The last two Southland Conference women's tennis champions collide Wednesday trying to stay in contention for this year's regular-season title as Northwestern State plays host to Texas-Arlington in a 1 o'clock match at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.
Northwestern, the 2010 champion, is 9-3 overall, 2-2 in the Southland, having fallen to Texas State and Stephen F. Austin last Friday. UTA, the defending champion, is 8-6 overall and 4-1 in league play, losing to Texas State in its last match.
Olga Bazhanova and
Tatiana Larina are the top singles players for the Lady Demons, each with 10-2 records. Right behind at 9-3 are
Andrea Nedorostova and
Polina Konop.
Bazhanova/Konop are 11-1 in No. 1 doubles. Larina/Nedorostova are 9-3 at No. 2.
