Last week, Northwestern fell 52-17 at home against No. 3-ranked Sam Houston State as the Bearkats clinched a share of the Southland crown. Southeastern Louisiana rebounded from a 70-0 loss at Sam Houston a week earlier to surprise SFA 42-27 in Hammond last Saturday night.

Northwestern head coach Bradley Dale Peveto got his first full-time Division I coaching post at Stephen F. Austin in 1988, working under Demons' defensive coordinator Gary DeLoach, who was the Lumberjacks' DC from 1983-89. Peveto stayed at SFA from 1988-91.

SFA has three former Demons on its coaching staff, including head coach J.C. Harper, defensive coordinator for NSU's 2002 playoff team. Offensive line coach Chris Truax was also part of that staff and helped the Demons win the 2004 Southland title in his tenure from 2002-05.

Defensive ends coach Jake Morrison was also part of the Demons' 2004 championship season as a graduate assistant working with the defensive line and was on staff in 2005.
