BEAUMONT, Tex. – The Northwestern State Lady Demon soccer team travels to Lamar on Sunday at 1 o'clock for a Southland Conference duel.
The Lady Demons (5-7-1, 0-2-1) fell to SLC opponent Sam Houston 2-0 Friday evening. Lamar (7-7-1, 3-1) defeated Central Arkansas 2-1 Friday night.
Katie Ferrara put the Bearkats on the board at the 16-minute mark off a corner kick by Shelby McDaniel.
Sam Houston kept the Lady Demons scoreless as Ferrara sank another goal at the 67-minute mark when she received a pass from Tricia Mallory.
Brooke Bourbonais and
Jessica Danku combined for four saves in net.
Lamar's Kimmy Albeno scored her ninth goal of the season to break the 1-1 score, and lift the Cardinals over UCA. Her tally marked her 21
st point of the season, tying the school record for most points in a single season.
Albeno leads the team with nine goals and three assists, followed by Kristin Bos with seven goals and two assists.
Lamar currently leads the Southland Conference in shots with 19.67 per game, and in saves with 95.
The Lady Demons return home on Friday to host McNeese at the Lady Demon soccer complex. The match is set to begin at 7 o'clock.
