Lady Demons travel to Sam Houston for Southland Conference match-up

HUNTSVILLE, Tex. ­ The Northwestern State Lady Demon soccer team hits the road this weekend for a Southland Conference contest at Sam Houston State Friday night. 
 
The Lady Demons (5-7-1, 0-2-1) and SHS (5-8-1, 2-1-1) will open play at 7 o'clock. 

NSU was defeated by SLC powerhouse Stephen F. Austin on Sunday 3-0.
 
Both teams played a scoreless first half. SFA did not waste any time in the second, finding the back of the net at the 48-minute mark.
 
Chelsea Raymond put two more tallies on the board before the clock ran out, giving SFA its 11th win and shutout of the season.
 
Brooke Bourbonais and Jessica Danku made a combined six saves in net.
 
The Ladyjacks' .786 shutout percentage currently ranks second in Division I women's soccer. Florida State holds the number one spot with .833 shutouts per game.
 
Sam Houston fell to Oral Roberts on Sunday 1-0 in double overtime.
 
The Bearkats are led by Tricia Mallory with three goals, followed by Kirby Zak with two goals and two assists.
 
SHSU currently ranks 14th in Division I in team save percentage with a .878 average.
 
NSU returns home on Oct. 19 to host McNeese. Kick-off is slated for 7 o'clock at the Lady Demon soccer complex.
