Pep rally set at 8 Thursday night in Turpin Stadium

9/27/2011 5:13:00 PM

Northwestern State spirit groups will hold a pep rally Thursday night at 8 in Turpin Stadium for Saturday evening's home game against rival McNeese State.

Open to all, the pep rally will include performances by the NSU cheerleaders, Demon Dazzlers, Pom Pon Line and pep band. Fans can also hear from Demon head football coach Bradley Dale Peveto.

The pep rallies will be held before each home game this season, reigniting a tradition that had waned recently. The first 2011 pep rally two nights before the season opener attracted about 1,000 students, alumni, and supporters to Turpin Stadium.

Northwestern (2-2 overall, 1-0 in the Southland Conference) takes on McNeese (2-1, 1-0) Saturday evening at 6 o'clock in Turpin Stadium. Tickets are available by going to the
nsutickets.com website or by calling 318-357-5251.

Fans are encouraged to wear orange to support NSU on "Orange Out Day" while enjoying "Band Alumni Day" activities focused on the centennial celebration for the Spirit of Northwestern Marching Band.
Tailgating Saturday in the Demon Commons, featuring the Collins Pavillion, begins Saturday morning with the NSU Alumni Tent kicking into gear in the early afternoon.
