FORT WORTH, Texas – After a 2-0 home win against Southern Mississippi on Friday night, the Northwestern State soccer team will travel to Fort Worth to take on TCU Sunday at 1 o'clock in a nationally televised game.

The game will be broadcast on the Mountain West Conference Television Network which is available in the Natchitoches area on DirectTV and Dish Network.

“TCU is a really good team,” said head coach Jimmy Mitchell. “They are one of the better teams in our region and are typically ranked in this region.”

Northwestern State (5-3) was led by two freshman in Friday's win - Julia Ranalli and Alex Petermann - both of whom each scored a goal to help the Lady Demons to their first ever victory over Southern Miss.

Meghan Hunter had an assist in the contest and continues to put up good offensive numbers a season after returning from an injured knee that sidelined her a season ago.

“Meghan's return continues to be a key for us this season, said Mitchell. “She brings so much instinct, leadership, and knowledge to the field.”

She leads all Lady Demons in points with eight on two goals and four assists.

TCU (4-4-1) has faced three Southland teams this season and took a 3-2 loss on Friday night to Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches.  Lamar and Texas State were both defeated by TCU earlier in the year.

“Sunday games are always tough, especially when they are on the road,” said Mitchell.  “We went through some injuries Friday night so it will be interesting to see how we fight back.

“Last year we had a 3-0 lead on them (TCU) and ended up losing 4-3, so we know we can play with them,” said. Mitchell. “It is a matter of us executing and doing what we need to do.”

Following Sunday's game, Northwestern State will return to the Lady Demon Soccer Complex on Friday to take on Texas Southern.
