NATCHITOCHES - Northwestern will hold the first home event of the fall Friday when the Lady Demon soccer team takes the field against Arkansas-Little Rock at 7:00 in the Demon Soccer Complex.
This is the first time the two schools have faced each other since 2008, which ended in a 3-3 tie, and the eighth meeting overall with the Trojans having the upper hand with four victories.
“It is great that we can face this caliber of team this early in the season,” head coach Jimmy Mitchell said. “They are a very explosive team.
“They beat Missouri State which is a very good team, and lost to Memphis who is one of the best teams in our area,” Mitchell said.
Little Rock defeated Missouri State 3-1 and then lost by that same score to Memphis.
The Lady Demons go into the game after a big win against Louisiana-Monroe with a score of 4-2.
“We are getting better and can see improvements after the first week,” Mitchell said.
The Lady Demons have looked to the young and veteran players for success this season.
Sophomore Jessica Danku held Louisiana-Lafayette scoreless in regulation before losing on an own goal situation in overtime.
The Lady Demons will hit the road for a three game series starting with Prairie View A&M next Friday, September 2 at 7:00.
