LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- On the heels of an easy opening win over Division III LeTourneau on Friday night, Northwestern State takes on a 2011 NCAA Tournament team Sunday afternoon, visiting Arkansas-Little Rock for a 2 o'clock contest.
The Demons cruised by the YellowJackets Friday night 87-61 as William Mosley scored 15 points, snared 14 rebounds and blocked five shots. UALR opened its schedule Friday night with a 65-49 loss at Tulsa.
NSU had a sloppy second half after opening a 27-point lead in the first 20 minutes against LeTourneau.
"We'll not be able to get away with that kind of performance at Little Rock," said 13th-year coach Mike McConathy. "We have to be a smarter team Sunday afternoon than we were Friday night."
UALR shot only 28 percent and was outrebounded 56-27 by Tulsa.
The teams will meet for the first time since 1986, and will square off again on Nov. 29 in Natchitoches. Sunday's game is the first of seven contests for the Demons against 2011 NCAA Tournament teams.
The game will be broadcast on 100.7 KZBL FM in Natchitoches and webcast on the nsudemons.com website.
