BEAUMONT, Texas – After shutting out McNeese State Friday night, the Northwestern State soccer team will travel to play its final game of the 2011 season at Lamar Sunday at 1 o'clock in Southland Conference action.

The Lady Demons (8-9-1, 2-5-1 SLC) are looking to finish the season with a bang hoping to win the last two games of the season after going on a five game winless streak.

“This is an important game for us, said head coach Jimmy Mitchell.  “We really want to end this season on a high note and finish .500.”

A win could put NSU with a better record than a year ago and in better standings than predicted in preseason polls.

“That would be a huge victory for us, especially returning several players next year,” said Mitchell.

Lamar (8-7-2, 5-2-1 SLC) is currently tied for third in the conference standings with Texas-San Antonio. Regardless the Lady Cardinals win or lose they will be playing in Natchitoches next weekend for the Southland Conference championship tournament.
