Box Score NATCHITOCHES – A goal scored in the first 23 seconds of the game helped push Texas San-Antonio to a 3-0 win over Northwestern State Sunday afternoon in Southland Conference soccer action at the Lady Demon Soccer Complex.

Edith Lopez headed the ball to Maria Jose Rojas who took it down the field and led Liv Nyhegn into the box to put the Roadrunners (6-7-1, 3-2 SLC) up 1-0.

NSU (7-9, 1-5 SLC) has not scored a goal during a four game skid dating back to October 7, and has given up 11 goals in the process.

In the 56th minute, Laylla da Cruz scored her second goal of the season on another assist from Rojas to put UTSA up 2-0.

Then in the 70th minute, the Roadrunners put the game out of reach after a goal from Amanda Ortegon on a pass from Anissa Munson gave UTSA a three-goal lead.

The loss makes each of the last three games of the season for the Lady Demons very crucial in their attempt to qualify for the postseason tournament.

NSU is currently in ninth place in the standings and will host Central Arkansas (1-4 in the SLC) on Friday night in the regular season home finale.  After that, the Lady Demons will visit McNeese State (2-3) and Lamar (5-0) on Oct. 28 and 30 to close out the regular season.

The top six teams qualify for the tournament.
