TJ Hersey begins his college football coaching career as an administrative graduate assistant, following a championship-winning career at Belhaven.
Hersey spent five seasons at Belhaven, playing for current Northwestern State head coach Blaine McCorkle. Hersey will assist with the NSU defensive backs in his first year on staff.
A defensive back, he was named a team captain for the 2023 season when the Blazers captured the USA South Conference championship – the first conference title in program history.
As a senior, Hersey recorded a career high 44 tackles, including 3.5 for loss, and broke up six passes. In his 46 career games at Belhaven, Hersey recorded 154 total tackles (six for loss), 46 passes defended, four forced fumbles, three interceptions, two blocked kicks and a fumble recovery, playing a key role as the Blazers won 24 games in his final three seasons.
An April 2023 graduate of Belhaven with a bachelor's degree in leadership and coaching, Hersey is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
He is pursuing a master’s degree in health and human performance at Northwestern State.
