Luke Darst is in his fourth season at Northwestern State and his third as an assistant coach.
Darst assists head coach Rick Cabrera with building Northwestern's schedule and has experience working with various positions on the Demon roster.
After coaching the Northwestern point guards in 2024-25 when the Demons enjoyed a seven-win improvement, Darst worked with the team's wings — an assignment he will maintain for the 2026-27 season.
While spending the 2023-24 season as the Demons' director of basketball operations, Darst proved himself to be a valuable asset for the Northwestern coaching staff.Â
A former player at Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Darst spent four seasons working with the staff at Arkansas State as both a student manager and as a graduate assistant.
Darst was a graduate assistant in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons with the Red Wolves, giving individual instruction to players, working alongside ASU's video coordinator with scouting and coordinating summer camps.
Darst spent the previous two seasons as Arkansas State's head student manager where he helped prepare equipment for travel, practice and games, assisted with practice and game duties and helped prepare the arena for practices.
Darst played one season at Fontbonne University in 2017-18.
A native of Portageville, Missouri, Darst earned his bachelor's degree in physical education and his master's degree in sport administration from Arkansas State.
