Richard Fisher

Richard Fisher has made a significant impact, as he enters his third season as the jumps coach since joining the staff in July of 2021.

He guided jumpers Andrew Gilreath and Adam Lindo to qualify for the NCAA East Prelims in 2023 after earning the silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the long jump at the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships. Randy Kelly also qualified for the regionals with a silver medal at the conference outdoor championships.

Sanaria Butler also earned a silver medal in the triple jump in the SLC Outdoor Championships and the bronze in the event in the indoor championships.

Gilreath also took home the gold in the triple jump at the SLC Indoor Championships and the silver in the long jump, while Kelly took home the bronze in the high jump.

Jumper Nikaoli Williams qualified for the NCAA East Prelims in a total of four events (including the long and triple jump) after he claimed triple jump gold and long jump silver at the Southland Conference Championships in 2022.

Fisher spent three years at Purdue as a volunteer assistant coach, helping coach jumps and multi events.

He helped coach five NCAA Indoor All-Americans, two Big 10 champions and four other conference medalists.

Fisher contributed to creating and implementing rehabilitation plans and on-campus recruiting.

The New Jersey native coached for five years at Paul VI High School, leading the sprinters, hurdles and jumpers.

Fisher supervised seven state champions and four high school All-Americans in a mixture of hurdles, sprints and jumps.

A certified strength and conditioning specialist, Fisher also worked for six years at Fits Pro LLC in Mt. Laurel Township, New Jersey.

He oversaw a sports facility that produced a 2016 Olympian, 12 Division I athletes and 10 high school All-Americans.

Fisher returned to Louisiana after competing at LSU as an 800-meter runner from 2009-13.

He graduated with a kinesiology degree in 2013.
