Casey Johnson

Casey Johnson joined the Northwestern State athletic training staff in July of 2023 and will serve as the primary athletic trainer for volleyball and tennis.
 
The Bossier native graduated with her master’s of science in athletic training from Central Arkansas in 2021 after receiving a bachelor of science in health and exercise science from NSU. She was a cum laude graduate in the class of 2018.
 
While at Central Arkansas, Johnson worked with the Bear football, women’s basketball, softball and men’s soccer teams. She implemented various rehabilitation programs after completing evaluations of student-athletes within those programs. 
 
After receiving her master’s from UCA, Johnson spent two years at Ouachita Baptist as an assistant athletic trainer in Arkadelphia, Ark. She worked with eight different Tiger programs including volleyball, tennis and basketball.
 
She was a part of the staff that saw the Tiger men’s tennis team reach the NCAA Division II Tournament during both of her seasons with the team. 
 
Johnson assisted with all preseason evaluations and physicals for incoming student-athletes that included concussion baseline testing and education and COVID-19 screening and education and was the primary contact overseeing the athletic training staff’s student workers.
 
Johnson has level one certification in sports and orthopedic regenerative dry needling, CPR/AED for professional rescuers certification, a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and QPR Gate Keeper training for mental health. 
 
She is the twin sister of fellow NSU athletic trainer Corey Johnson.
