Matthew Danna is in his third year with the baseball program, but first as Director of Baseball Operations.
He spent the first two years as a student manager along with three years of assisting as an equipment manager for the football program.
The Denham Springs, Louisiana native is a general studies major with a concentration in communications and expects to graduate in the spring of 2013.
Following the completion of his bachelor’s degree, he plans on pursuing his master’s degree in sport administration and then move on to coaching baseball at the college ranks.
Danna graduated from Live Oak High School in 2009 where he played football and baseball until his sophomore year when he took over the role as a student-coach.
Throughout his time in high school and college he has found opportunities to coach, which include youth tournament teams and youth camps hosted by NSU.
The son of Mike and Joanne Danna, he has one sister, Katie (17), who plans on attending Northwestern State in the fall. He also has a brother, Josh (14).
His great-grandfather and great-uncle both played semi-pro baseball in Connecticut.
Danna’s duties include equipment, team video, travel plans, field maintenance, and other day-to-day operations.
