Jordan Monty is beginning her second season as a member of the NSU soccer program, serving as assistant for this year’s Lady Demons and will be working primarily with the attacking players as well as having a key role in recruiting.
In her first season with the Lady Demons she coach two Southland All-conference selections in Rachel O’Steen and Sarah Sadler.
She was also able to coach the first player in Northwestern State soccer history to play on a national team (Ashlee Savona).
Savona led the team in points and goals, and was second on the team in assists.
Monty, a native of Mesquite, Texas, comes to NSU after serving four years on the East Tennessee State soccer squad where she was named the 2006 Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year and a four-time All-Atlantic Sun player, including first team honors as a senior.
She finished up her career at ETSU ranked No. 2 as the school’s all-time career goal scorer with 23.
The daughter of Garry and Vickie Monty, Jordan earned her bachelor’s degree in sport management at ETSU and is pursuing her master’s degree in sport administration at NSU.
Her father was a very successful high school football coach in Texas.
“She has coaching in her blood,” said head coach Jimmy Mitchell. “I believe Jordan has a chance to be a very successful coach at the college level. The sky is the limit in her coaching career.”
