Stephanie Locke enters her fourth season as an assistant on the Lady Demon basketball team.

She will work primarily with the guards and will help with recruiting duties.

Formerly Stephanie Shaw, one of the premier point guards in Lady Demon history and a member of the 1994-95 team which led Northwestern to a runner-sup finish in the National Women's Intercollegiate Tournament in 1995, she rejoins her alma mater as the second assistant for Lady Demon basketball.

Locke, after finishing her career in 1996, took a coaching position in the high school ranks in Shreveport at Captain Shreve High School for one year.

She accepted the position at NSU vacated by former assistant Kim Hill in August on 1997 and has been a plus for the Lady Demon program ever since.

"Stephanie is a great hire for NSU," said Smith. "Not only is she familiar with the University and the personnel, she also nows how our system works, which allowed her to step in and contribute immediately."

Locke learned the Lady Demon system first hand in an illustrious career as a player from 1992-96. During the span she earned numerous honors including All-Southland Conference second team accolades in both 1995 and '96.

She is second on the Lady Demon career list in assists with 578 and fifth in steals with 254.

In 1995 she was second in the Southland in assists with a 5.2 per game average.

Locke was married in May of 1996 to Chris Locke of Mansfield.  The young couple welcomed their first child, Madison in June 2000.

Locke enjoys shopping, movies and outdoor activites in her spare time.Â
