Entering her second season on the Northwestern State women's basketball staff, former Tulane standout Olivia Grayson will continue to impart her high basketball IQ and unbridled work ethic to the NSU backcourt members.

In her first season on staff, Grayson helped senior guard Beatrice Attura become a 1,000-point career scorer, the school's single-season 3-point record holder and the Lady Demons' first CoSIDA Academic All-American.

Grayson came to Natchitoches after spending three seasons as a graduate assistant at her alma mater, earning her master’s degree in social work in December 2015.

A four-year letter winner with the Green Wave, Grayson was a Conference USA All-Freshman Team selection in 2010 and earned first-team All-Conference USA honors in 2012 as a junior. As a senior, Grayson was a second-team All-Conference USA pick. She remains in playing shape, often serving as an additional player during team workouts..

Grayson became the 24th member of the Tulane 1,000-point club after enjoying a standout prep career at Archbishop Chapelle High School.

During her time as a graduate assistant at Tulane, Grayson worked with the coaching staff while also assisting Tulane’s marketing, alumni and video departments. Her versatility, along with a recruiting relationship, drew head coach Jordan Dupuy’s eye to Grayson.

Grayson, who earned her undergraduate degree in psychology while playing at Tulane,  will handle various facets of the Northwestern State program, including video and social media.

“She understands the impact social media can have on a program, both positively and negatively,” Dupuy said. “She’s going to take a huge role in educating the girls on how to use it. She’s very good with technology, creating graphics for recruiting services. Video-wise, she’s way ahead of the game in how she uses Synergy and how she breaks down film. She’ll wear a lot of different hats, but she’ll be good at them and embrace every single one of them.”

Grayson is a Metairie native and the daughter of Allean Grayson and Alonzo Joseph.
