Jerica Coleman is in her first year as a full-time member of the Northwestern State Athletic training staff.
She’s serving as the head athletic trainer for women’s basketball.
Coleman came to NSU after completing an athletic training residency at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital in Sugar Land, Texas. Along with rehabilitating and treating sports injuries, she participated in community outreach and case studies.
She has spent time in a university setting as an assistant athletic trainer at Austin College, an intern at Yale and Sam Houston State.
Coleman obtained her masters of education in curriculum and instruction with a minor in exercise science from Sam Houston State in 2012.
She graduated cum laude from Texas A&M Commerce in 2010 with a bachelor of science in athletic training.
The Denton, Texas, native has worked with football, track and field, squash, women’s gymnastics, women’s soccer, volleyball, softball, and women’s basketball. Her duties included game and practice coverage, injury rehabilitation, record maintenance and student trainer coordination.
Coleman holds certifications from Louisiana, Texas, the American Heart Association and NATABOC.
She's a proud member of the Delta Beta (Texas A&M-Commerce) chapter of the Alpha Phi Fraternity).
