Mary McCullough, a former star basketball player for the Lady Demons during the early years of the program, has returned to serve as graduate assistant to head coach Charlotte Corley during the 1977-78 season.
McCullough, a native of Fairview-Alpha, played for the Lady Demons from 1972 through 1974 after a standout career at Fairview-Alpha High School. She was a four-time all-district choice and won numerous all-tournament honors during her career. Fairview-Alpha reached the state playoffs twice during those four years.
McCullough, who will graduate from NSU with a major in physical education and a minor in special education in May, coached the seventh and eighth grade teams at Fairview-Alpha for two seasons prior to this year.
The 23-year-old, who was an intramural star at NSU in basketball, volleyball and softball, has also assisted at all three of the previous Lady Demon Summer Basketball camps.
MuCullough is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. McCullough of Fairview-Alpha. She plans to teach the and coach upon graduation.
