Ashlie Dowden, of Anacoco, La., is a secondary education major and physical education minor at NSU and is in her first season with the Lady Demon basketball team.
She lettered four years in basketball, three years in softball, and two years in track and cross country at Anacoco High School.
She helped her team to back-to-back state championships in cross country and trips deep into the playoffs in basketball.
She was named second-team all-district in softball, first-team all-district in basketball, and was first place in district shotput.
Dowden was a member of the Student Government Association, National Honor Society, Character Counts, Future Business Leaders of America, school newspaper, 4-H, and the LEO club.
After graduation, she plans to return to Vernon Parish to teach high school math and coach basketball.
