Dillon Dawson is in his second season as Northwestern State’s head cross country coach and an assistant track coach, leading the distance runners.
In his first season coaching the teams, Ceyda Bayur earned points in the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships in the 800-meter dash, placing fifth.
John Klein also scored points in the 3000-meter steeplechase, finishing sixth with a time of 10:07.33.
Korbin Shumate earned points in the 800-meter dash in the SLC Indoor Championships with a fifth place finish, running a 1:59.42.
Prior to coming to NSU, the native of Chelan, Washington, was a multiple-time national qualifier between cross country and track and field at Lewis-Clark State College.
Dawson was also an all-conference selection in cross country as a member of a third place finishing team at cross country nationals in 2019.
His teams were four-time conference champions in cross country during his tenure on the team.
Dawson was an all-state runner in both cross country and track at Chelan High, garnering multiple awards including team captain, team MVP and the coaches award.
He earned his bachelor's degree from Lewis-Clark State in kinesiology in 2022.
