Fresh off one of the most decorated careers in Northwestern State track & field history, Diamante Gumbs is back in his third season coaching for his alma mater.
Gumbs mostly helps head coach Mike Heimerman with the throwers.
During his Demons career, he holds the school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 195-8 at the Corky/Crofoot Classic in 2024.
Overall, he has 10 tosses that rank in the top 10 between his indoor and outdoor events, including six in the hammer.
However, it was the discus toss that earned him a spot at nationals after throwing a 195-2 at the NCAA East Regionals.
Gumbs as a pair of discus golds on his resume, earning them in 2024 (184-7) and 184-4 (2023).
He also has three outdoor silvers—2024 hammer (194-10), 2022 shot put (57-0) and 2022 discuss (176-11)—along with a hammer bronze in 2022 (176-9).
During the indoor season, he collected a gold in the weight throw in 2022, tossing a 64-2.5.
